There will be five (5) cones arranged in the center of the runway. The pilot must taxi his flyable aircraft around the five (5) cones in the order that will be determined before he starts his engine by drawing numbered balls numbered 1 to 5 from a hat.

The aircraft will be place on the taxi pad at the center of the runway with engine running. At a given signal the time will start his trip thru maze, and will end when the aircraft returns to the start point after completing the maze.

The pilot will repeat this path a second time and the times will be averaged. The pilot with the shortest time is the winner.

The pilot may stand any place on the runway, but may not move once the event has started. His helper will turn the plane around at the end of the first trip, and restart it if necessary.

If the engine stops it may be restarted as many times as it takes to complete the event. The engine must be restarted where it stopped. The pilot may not continue till he is back in his fixed location.

Point scoring: by lowest time

1st 10 points

2nd 7points

3rd 5 points

Pylons will be set up on each end of the runway.

There will up to 4 aircraft in each race, but not less than 2.

The aircraft will be parked on the east side of the runway.

The glow and electric aircraft will have the prop removed; the helicopter will have its glow plug removed.

The pilots will take their prop and prop nut, or glow plug to the other side of the runway. The fixed wing pilot will hold their prop by one blade and balance the prop nut on the other blade. The helicopter pilots will be given a plastic knife on which to balance their glow plug. The heli pilot will hold the knife by the handle, and balance the glow plug on the blade.

At the start horn, each pilot will cross the runway while balancing their hardware. If dropped, the hardware must be picked it up and rebalanced.

Place the parts on their aircraft, start the motor/engine and fly around the two pylons and land.

Return back to the spot where they put the parts on their aircraft, and remove the parts.

Pilots signal completion of the race by putting their hands up in the air.

The center of the runway will have 5 (five) numbered, 2 foot square boxes painted on it. The boxes will be about 30 ft. apart, with one in the center.

The pilot will start the flight from the center taxi way.

The box order that the pilot will fly will be by a drawing of balls numbered 1 to 5 just before take off.

The pilot may stand anywhere he likes for the flight, but cannot change that location during the flight. The pilot will fly the course twice in the same order.

Each flight will be timed. The object is not how fast it can be flown, but how close the time is between the two flights. The winner will be the pilot who has the least difference in the times.

A touch down is when both skids have touched the ground.

When the course is completed the pilot will fly to the start point and time will end for that flight. As soon as possible the pilot will start the second flight in the same order as the first flight, and a new time will start. That time will stop when the helicopter returns to the starting point at the completion of the second flight.

The pilot may chose a new flight location for the second flight.

3 (three) balloons

a foam cup

popsicle sticks and rubber bands to make a bomb rack if he wishes

A pilot may build a bomb rack out of any material he would like, but it must pass a safety inspection by the CD.

Each pilot will fill his balloons with water to any level that he thinks is best.

If your balloon does not break when it hits the ground, the place where it stops rolling will be the hit location.

There will be three concentric rings on the runway.

A hit inside the first (center ring) is 10 points

A hit inside the second ring is 7 points

A hit inside the third (outer) ring is 4 points

Any hit on the runway is 1 point.

If you hit the CD that is good for a free lunch.

If your balloon breaks before you get off the ground that may not be an official attempt and you could get a replacement balloon. CD is the final judge of the flight status at the time of balloon failure.

For our field here’s how I read this Notam that closes our field this week during the posted times. Note, please correct me if I got it wrong!

The 10 nm radius Area’s do not include our field according to the map link, so only the 30 NM area’s affect us. This is Area 1,3 and 5. These 30 nm radius Areas overlap and all these Areas include our field so 1,3 and 5 can be lumped together as far as were concerned.

Field closed 5/27 and 5/28, Wednesday 1 PM afternoon through early Thursday morning ending at 8 AM. (1:05 PM Wed to 8:00 AM Thur.)

Reading between the lines the 10 mile stuff is for the Presidents Heli’s and the 30 for AF One.
